BCL School Attendance Support was founded by Ben Lewis with a clear purpose: to provide specialist attendance and welfare support that helps schools strengthen attendance, improve pupil engagement and ensure every young person has the opportunity to access the best possible education.

We are a growing and dedicated school attendance specialist, working alongside schools, academies and trusts to provide the additional capacity, expertise and practical support needed to improve attendance outcomes, reduce persistent absence and narrow gaps for pupils and families.
Our Approach
Our 360-degree approach to pupil attendance brings together data insight, strategic guidance and direct intervention. We work collaboratively with school leaders, attendance teams, pupils, families, local authorities and external agencies to identify barriers to attendance and put effective support in place.
We have a proven track record in improving whole-school attendance and reducing persistent absence. Our work supports schools to move beyond short-term fixes by strengthening systems, identifying barriers early and embedding sustainable attendance practice across the whole school community.
What we do
Our services include attendance data generation and analysis, attendance audits, strategic attendance reviews and tailored action planning. We also provide dedicated support for Senior Attendance Champions, helping schools strengthen whole-school attendance systems and meet statutory expectations set out in the Department for Education’s Working together to improve school attendance guidance.

We also help schools evidence and strengthen the key attendance-related expectations within the Ofsted framework, including leadership oversight, safeguarding links, inclusion, early intervention, data-informed decision-making and the impact of support for pupils who are persistently or severely absent.

Through early intervention, targeted family support, robust attendance monitoring and expert guidance, we help schools reduce persistent absence, improve punctuality and promote positive engagement with education.
